Many of these paintings are from local landscapes near us, characterised by the large Essex skies and fields of wheat. There are also semi-abstract works that are reflections of memories from walks and observations of dog walks with our dog Maya throughout the seasons. While walking Maya I notice pops of white and pink in the hedgerows from the roses and oxeye daisies, or the blues of the emerging wheat or the lemony greens of the soft tops of the barley crop.
I enjoy the process of painting and aim to create interest with different marks and layers and an overall feeling of balance and harmony with colours and tones. I’m hoping viewers will make their own connections to my paintings and my mark-making and use of colour and form will trigger feelings and memories within them.

We see this view when we ride on the bumpy track, out of the wood on the way to the Gardens of Easton Lodge in Little Easton. It’s a beautiful route we discovered in lockdown #1 in 2020 and we continue to do throughout the year. This painting captures the pistachio-green of the barley field, the tall trees and the big sky.
